Default Cruise control

... Hey fellas got another question for ya. I haven't looked into it yet,so I'm just tryin to get some ideas on this. I was driving down the highway the other day and decided to put on the cruise. Got it up to 60 and set it. Soon as I let off the set button the truck spooled up and took off like a drag car it went up to 70 and slowed back down to 55 and sat there untill I hit coast. I'm thinking WTF, that was cool...but not so cool. Everytime I set the cruise it hauls a** 10 mph faster, then sets it at around 55.. Any ideas??

Hey 94
I have an exhaust break also, factory ,in my 96. I was told that with the exhaust break they dont hook up the cruise at the factory. Mine is the same way, light comes on but no cruise. sound right?

there might be a bad connection with the tube that controls the cruise control.. mine used to not work then i looked and found out that the tube wasnt connected it somehow blew off

The cruise module is underneath the driver's side battery tray. A lot of time what happens is the battery leaks all over the stuff under there and corrodes the module and the vacuum lines and stuff. My vacuum line had a nice big hole in it, so I just took it off and plugged it up.

Usually you can just replace the bad part of the vacume line.

It a common thing for the CC to hunt around when you first set it. Mine does it too but Ive never replaced the cruise servo.

Yeah, I tried that, and it still didn't work. Looked around some more and there was evidence of battery acid all over the servo and all the electrical connectors.
