ring gear or transfer case chain. sounds like its riding on the backside of the gear when the load is off the driveline. does it happen at any speed or only in lockup.

Well found out the problem. the pinion nut was loose and the pinion was movin around and f'd the bearing. the nut was not torqued to spec so over time it just walked off.

when ever you change bearings it will change the Number of shims you need/use i rebuild differentials and bevel gears where i work and i can just put new bearings and sealls in something and make a big difference in how many shims you need to add or subtract

that happened to me a couple of weeks ago I torqued mine down to spec after changing the pinion seal and the nut started backing it self off after a couple of weeks of driving so I just put some red lock tite on there then torqued it back down and problem solved.

Ya i had to do that to cause the parts store didnt have a new nut. your suppose to replace it every time you take it off but locktite is the key. I also have to speedy sleeve the yoke cause it was wore pretty bad
