Default no plate and gutted afc to plate and tuned afc?

alright right now i have no plate in and the arm taken out of the afc, i pluged the wastegate and it makes the turbo light alot quicker but its not quick enuff bc i still have 2 much lag between when i hit the gas and when it goes. i ground my stock plate to a #100 plate today at work and im thinkin about puttin it in and puttin the afc arm in to give me less lag between the time i hit the pedal and when it starts to move. is this gonna help? i like the power now and i dont wanna lose it i just need it to be a little "quicker" at low end.

is it smokin' like a freight train till it lights, then a little less smoke than a freight train once it lights?

what all other mods do you have to your truck?

i would try one of these combinations. no plate and the afc foot in place with the spring tight with turbo line to it, plate in stock position with no afc foot, or plate back from full forward ~1/8" afc foot installed with spring tight but not all the way tight. you want to shoot for no smoke or as little as possable. smoke is wasted fuel. that is why there is lag. there is too much fuel for the motor to burn, therefore the motor in that state is very in-efficient.

disclamer.

running with no plate can harm your pump.

do you have gauges? at least an egt gauge?

if not i would put the 100 in and slide it all the way back, put the foot on and tighten the spring up all the way and place an order with one of our fine sponsors for a set of gauges......

yeah i have gauges, right now i only get to about 800 degrees flat out so im doin great on egts. since my egts r so low i was gonna try 100 plate full forward w/ the arm in, then i can adjust it. i just want it to GO when i hit the pedal, i dont like the lag there

idk but you could actually be putting the fire out by overfueling at low rpm's and that will also give you lower egt cause of incomplete combustion. but where do you have the probe mounted for your egt guage? pre or post turbo? i do know no plate can and will eventually hurt your pump

You're not going to get it to "go" right off idle. Even in stock form, there is still some lag. If you want as little as possible, gutting the AFC is the opposite of what you want. You're basically dumping fuel on the low end, which others have posted, is "putting out the fire". Tuning is the key. Play around with the starwheel and AFC housing to find a happy medium.

there is no way that with no plate, no afc, and a stock turbo and gov. springs all your egt is is 800*. with a 100 plate and the afc tight on mine with a stock turbo and gov springs i could easily peg my 1600* gauge. and mine had a nice haze so i had less fuel than you.

put the gauge in the manifold. if it already is then your gauge is bad. there is no way it is that low. i'm sorry if i sound like a ***** but it is imposable....

Ya, somethings wrong here. Smoking like a train and only 800°F EGT's is not right. Are you missing a "1" in front of it?

Even just sliding the stock plate got me into EGT trouble. Stock turbo can only take about 350HP before its a glowing glob.
