I wonder if his EGT probe is post turbo instead of pre turbo? I could see the possibility of those numbers down range of the turbo..

I only seen a 300 deg drop from pre and post turbo temps using 2 identical pyros mounted before and after, on mine with a 0 plate and loose starwheel I have seen 1600 + a couple of times but not for long at that temp

no my egt probe is pre turbo. i have the wastegate plugged, i seriously only get to 800 degrees when im racing. about 400 or 450 when im just drivin. time for some more fuel huh? btw i put the arm back in and slid the afc forward, left the wastegate plugged, its about how i want it now, way quicker, a lot less smoke and great egts

theres just no way its only 800.. you just have WAYYY TOOO much fuel and NO air for it to be 800 degrees. and since your dumping it b4 the turbo lights ur making it worse. it doesnt matter that ur wastgates plugged or not. I couldnt even get my truck stock to only hit 800 and i live in fl where the air is dense

Default I just went through this.

With what you did in the first post dumps to much fuel.

I did the same thing you did. no plate. no afc arm. full boost. I found that having the afc arm in with the starwheel as loose as it can get with full boost seems to be a good off the line feeling.

I am still want to try a 100 plate with the afc arm grind with the starwheel as loose as possible with the plate & afc ff to see how what happens

Remember you are looking for a haze out your pipe and not the black smoke. Once you get this mastered I think you n me will be be happy...

p.s. I like the smoke to much though it helps with tailgaters and high beams behind you.

My truck does pretty well and I know you are right. I will have to get some more air at a later date. I have to build slowly because I lost my beloveable money tree last year. It just could not handle the economics of last year.

im gonna have to take a video to get u guys to believe me arent i? i thought it was pretty unbelieveable too bc b4 plugging the wastegate i could hit 1100 but now it lights faster and has more boost so less egts.

i believe you oglejust. i have to be pulling a heavy load and really laying in to it to get my egts up to 900* i am putting 425 to the rear wheels on the dyno and pouring a lot of fuel to it, but i am also building about 55lbs of boost. i have my truck at Jim Jessup's right now get some things fixed(front dowel pin fell out) and he said i should not see more then 1000* for my truck. also he said if you look on you stock turbo the lil elbow that connects to the down pipe that is were the egt gauge is designed to be placed. 6" after the turbo. on that elbow there is a small raised spot that is made to be drilled and tapped for a egt probe. if you have not heard of Jim Jessup he is one of the designers of the cummins. (just so you dont think i am listening to some random guy.)
