Replacing motor mounts sucks
There is absolutley no easy way to get in there with a wrench large enough to break the mount-to-engine bolts loose. After 4 hours the mount is finally changed out, but the starter wouldn't line up right so I called it quits for the day. It DID help that I had an overhead hoist/small crane setup to take the weight off the mount. The engine having oil all over it wasn't exactley the greatest, either. I guess that will be my motivation to change the valve cover gaskets out now. I've been meaning to do it for about 8 months.
98 12 valve. Everything seems to get in the way. Trac bar, power steering pump, wiring harness, master cylinder/brake lines. I still have the transmission mount to replace, but I won't be able to work on it again until Wednesday. Sucks too, as we just got a foot of snow and it's 20* at best outside. At least it's only a 1 mile walk to work.
Sounds about right. Not sure on the damage for the tranny mount, though. The bolts are in there, but I think they're snapped off. You can grab the transfercase and move it about 6" side-to-side. But the new motor and transmission mounts should make it rock solid again.
