ok thanks, wasnt sure beacuse ihave been old that they usually replace the shaft with an updated unit . Yes its the cardigan joint, not fun. im just gonna have to bite the bullet and have the shop do it along with the pinion seal, output shaft seal on the t case and my rear axel seal. Then its done and i can use my 4wd poperly withoutthe squeak squeak noise . Thanks people much appreciated.

if you have the patients to do the seals your self its well worth it instead af paying someone $300 or more for them, no need to pull the pinions for the pinion seals just chanelocks and a BFH

I replaced the front driveshaft on mine this year with a new one completely. The shop who did it for me is local and does ALOT of the local pullers and I am very satisfied with their work. They took and built a driveshaft which uses two 1410 joints like the rear driveshaft uses and changed the transfer case out to a yoke style and changed the front rear yoke also to match.Driveshaft was balanced and when I had to use it this weekend due to slick roads I was really happy with how much smoother it was than all that slop in the factory joint.I looked and do have any photos of it but will take some for you tommorrow....Andy
