Check the fluid yet? Mine was the same way on my 2000. Ended up being low on fluid with a leak that never dripped? I don't know where the fluid went but it would lose it over time.

after changing all the seals on mine and putting the PS pump back on, i have no PS whatsoever now. i have been told all kinds of ways to purge the system from blocking the vacuum pump hose for a few seconds at a time (which is don't see how that can help), to driving the truck in a figure 8 manner in a field somewhere. i haven't messed with it yet but am wondering what its going to take to get it back....

I just changed the fluid in mine and now it is very stiff. I went to an 05 which steers very easy so not sure if it was always like that??? or whether I can just tell a big difference now?
