Mine too... You're idle is way low... Should be around 800, give or take a hundred. I still think its an injector.

Same with mine, occasionally some injectors with a lot of miles won't hold prime and they'll leak down into the cylinder, makes startups hard.

Bump the idle up a bit for winter. 100-200 rpm.
That, or feather the pedal for a min or two at start-up.
This is very common for these trucks/motors.

I am noticing that if it sets for 6 hours or so itwill not start well at all. if I run in to a store and come right back out it sarts up great. i think I may have a loss of prime some where like McCall said. I hope its nothing expensive!

I had the same problem with my truck, and after reading this post, I went and adjusted my idle and now no problem!

OK i turned up the idle. it still does not fire up right I sat for over five minustes trying to get it to turn over. does anyone know where the valves are that stop the diesel from going back out of the lines. I have no raw diesel pop at first crank which makes me think its not a leaking injector. Im freaking out guys

Overflow valve could be leaking down... I gotta do mine too. Could be a leak at the pre-heater bowl where the wiring harness plugs in. Could be a leak in your lift pump. Could be a crack in the lines, although it'd probably stall out on you if it was.

I don't know where mines coming from either, but I really don't care at this point, it still fires up in the morning, just takes a little while. The 98 starts right up no matter how long its been sitting... Weird.
