Just kind of an update-- The shop did drop the trans and found that there was a problem with the syncro and 5th gear (it would bind when it slid to shift and then lock) which they replaced for me but had to pay for the parts and I was able to take it on vacation but now the problem is it will grind or really more of a scratch upshifting into 5th so I have it back in the shop right now and they are trying to figure it out.
So right now I am happy they stood behind their work and are trying to get it right, I just would like to get the truck back because the fish are biting and I can't get my boat to the water without it.

that sounds like the synchro is goin out mine does that goin into third. did they use approved tranny fluid when they refilled it because if not it will eat those carbon synchro's up. some one posted a list of approved fluid on a post a while ago some one might be able to find it.

Cant ya just fish off the dock

They put in a new syncro and 5th gear but are still having problems with it, and these guys are aware of the liner problems that other oils cause in the 4500.

And no I can't fish from the dock

Well--after two tear downs and a reverse gear and bearing kit and a 5th gear shift rail and another $500. for parts and most of a month without my truck I finally have a transmission that works again.
The shop didn't charge me any labor for the job just the parts which I guess is fair just wished they would have found them the first time, anywho I am glad to have my truck setting in my driveway again instead of their shop.
