Valve adjustment screw loosened up while on the freeway
Hello everyone
So, as the title says the screw for adjusting valve lash loosened up while going 75 down the freeway. It's the intake valve on cylinder 2. The motor still ran but sounded like it was missing a cylinder which apparently it was. I ran it for maybe 2-3 minutes getting off the freeway, moving it for the tow truck, and then moving it in my yard.
What I am wondering is where should I go from here? Put it back together and see if it runs ok? Or is it time to take the head off and put new valves in or go even deeper into the motor?
I pulled the pedestal off and took the push rod out. Both ends still look good and the rod looks to be straight. The ball on the adjuster looks nice and smooth still. I don't think anything else could have been hurt but I'm not sure
Any thoughts or insight would be much appreciated!

Do you know if the valves have ever been adjusted before? If so, maybe this one was not secured properly. Ive actually never heard of this happening on a cummins. I just looks like the adjuster just backed out. But, I would take off the rocker, clean it up and inspect for cracks, or bent or other damage. If that looks good, I would re-install and re-adjust the valve/rocker and secure the nut properly. Also (I) would check the others as well, (might as well re-adjust the rest) then fire her up.
