Ok gentlemen. today i tore into the truck again since its the first warmish day ive had here in ohio. and i did the fuel heater delete. put it all back together and guess what. it still leaks fuel somewhere. all i can tell u is that i can see it dripping off the bottom of the lift pump diamond and its not coming from anywhere above the lift pump. i cant see any better than that. its not dripping down onto the lift pump from above and i cant see anything because the fuel filter is in the way for anything directly atop the lift pump or beside it. im getting extremely frustrated at this point and i cannot find any rubber line going along that side of the block for fuel either. so im out of options idk where to look. Unless fuel comes out of the plunger on the lift pump that contacts the lobe on the cam. but i would think only oil would leak out there if it wasnt making a seal. am i wrong? to tell u all something i got a lift pump from advance auto and they dont come with gaskets. old one didnt have one either. never had a problem with it leaking. they told me it doesnt need it. theres one between the fuel heater bracket and the block but there was never one between the lift pump and the bracket.

You are missing a gasket.
I had a hell of a time lining up the gaskets with all the pieces. It took me and a buddy a few tries but we finally got her to seal.
You need a set of new gasket there. I do not have a diagram. Is there a Cummins Service Center (actual Cummins repair center) around you? They have a lot of odd parts I have needed in the past. (When I bought my truck I discovered the previous owner used caulk (or some derivative) as a grid heater gasket.) They had it in stock and cheap. Same with my lift pump. Cummins factory pieces from great people who know our engines.
Don't give up.
