yes that what I mean when I'm talking about retorquing with o rings upon install I run through the normal torque pattern with all nuts and studs, than break one loose at a time and retorque after that that's it.

I personally have not seen a blown gasket with no retorques after initial install with o rings.

Been doing this 7 years seen 4 blow a gasket. Should be retorqued after one complete warm up to operating temp. One after 600 or so miles and one at 1500 miles. If they still pull after the last one need to do it again in 500 miles.

LOL... with that schedule I'll be done with it in a few days.

So after taking the head off I discovered that the guy who installed my head studs didn't put a new head gasket in. And one of the head studs was not completely screwed in. The guy messing with it now took the stud out with his fingers without using a tool. Awesome workmanship.

The stud should turn out by hand. If they are tightened down you risk breaking a stud. Are the holes atleast bottom tapped? It was virtually blown when started if he re-used the gasket.

WOW ... fantastic .. they do say in my instructions that you can use some red Loctite ... which will help keep the stud from vibrating loose .... not a bad idea ... probably gonna do that for mine .. I like insurance :tu:

So I've been trying to get ahold of the guy who didn't change the gasket. No returned text and won't answer the phone or call back. What a professional.

sounds like a guilty conscience too me ....

Did some research on the guy who I'm having the problems with. I'm finding out I should have done the research before I had the work done. There are multiple complaints about this guy. And if I don't hear from him soon I will put his name out on all message boards.

Just to stress the importance of retorque when using rings. This truck has already had 1 retorque.
