Default NV4500 gear oil

I was needing to add a little gear oil to my nv4500 and I was wondering if royal purple will work and can I add it to whats already in it? Also what weight oil do I have to use?

I think it calls for 75/85 but if I get a weight close to that I was wondering if It would be ok?

Syncromesh type fluid ONLY. DO NOT use a regular gear oil.

Yes it has to be for GL4 or GL5 but what about the difference in weights? Can I just get some close to the same weight and use it?

No, gl4 or gl5 are not safe in these transmission. Syncromesh is a mtl fluid.
And no you can't compare weights and use another oil. This is a white paper on the subject.

Yes gl4 or gl5 will work because that's exactly what it calls for from Chrysler I know because I checked.

No it doesn't.
I can give you the part number in another screenshot. The part number correlates to pennzoil and castoroil syncromesh fluids. You can put in if you want but it wont shift well. No where in any manual will you find a gl4 or gl5 recommended for a nv4500 or nv5600.

I should also clarify (even though it was covered in the link above) that the syncromesh fluids are gl4 fluids yet all gl4 fluids do not address specific syncronizer needs. A gl4 and a syncromesh mtl are not made equal by the gl4 spec. The article covers the subject more in depth but in basic terms the gl4 is the additive package as it relates to gear wear and other additive packages.
