Default 3rd Gear Let Go Today

On my way to school today got on it alil in 2nd went to 3rd and WAM knockty knock went to 4th and it was just clunking. Stoped got under the truck with it idleing in neutral and could barely stand the noise. Tried to go to 3rd again and it just slams and knocks and jerks.

In all gears I can hear it knocking and clanking 3rd is basically gone. When Im sitting still and push in the clutch it stops clanking but if Im coasting or driving it clunks and grinds.

Its in the shop now their going to tear it apart tommorow.

Sorry to hear that. Sounds like you broke a synchronizer.

Not necessarily. It depends on where it broke and how much force its able to apply. I've seen one of our ranch trucks that broke a synchro and would go into gear no problem but would damn sure let you know it didnt like it afterwards. Then I've seen others that would completely lock down the tranny. Just depends on where it broke and in how many pieces.
