94-95 have less hp pumps which is not by much 96-98 are highest but they say 96 has some brake issues in traffic. I just spent about 8 months trying to find one and i came across a 96 4x4 5 speed for 6000 just be patient and good luck trying to find one. And for sure get a 5 speed.

transmission! deffinately first build it to match the power u want to push then get a set of gauges especially boost gauge and an egt gauge then air flow too much fuel with out enough air is gonna suck on millage, run hot, and could cause some damage, and then the best part...fuel go in that order and u shouldnt have problems

why is a nv4500 transmission a must? only problem with an auto from the factory is poor hydrolics -valvebody- and a junk converter. fix those 2 things before you have a problem and you are good to well over 400HP if you dont boost launch all the time. same goes for the stock nv4500 bam right off the bat you need a better clutch and input shaft. totally up to the driver in which transmission you would perfer. there is absolutly nothing wrong with an auto transmission. 94 and 95 autos are manual shift the 96-98 autos are electronic shift. 47RH vrs 47RE same clutches and hard parts though

also just keep searchin on here for your answers, there is so much info on here its crazy. your stock charger will get you well into the 300hp range. dont worry about spendingthe coin on that just yet. best bang for the buck is 4k gov springs hands down best/most economical go fast part you can buy

96-98 come a little higher hpstock. mines and auto and i had it built. first things first should be intake and exhaust, gotta let it breath. then some pump tuning a fuel plate and a 4k gov spring. you will notice a huge difference and maybe a rack plug for full afc travel.
