if you fuel system is in good working order no you shouldnt. anything more then 100hp over stock on a stock trans will be a ticking time bomb if you like to drive it hard at all. nick at duramaxtuner.com is a great choice if you have any questions about what it will and wont take in stock form just give them a call.

Ok. What other little mods should I be doing. Im gonna pay it off before i do anything but i was planing on running as just stock trans with intake and exhaust for a while. Will prob do a smoke switch on the cheap for some fun before it gets efi live. What about things like egr blocker plates and pcv reroute. Im officially new to the duramax world because is just bought this truck tonight. I heard those things are worth doing but Im not sure of the exact benefits. Anything else I should do?

EGR block and pcv re-route just keep soot out of your intake runners, otherwise they will fill up with black tar like mixture or soot and oil, I know mine was already gummed up a little when we pulled the heads to do the gaskets, it had just over 100k miles on it then and the build up enough to warrant the block off plate
you could also invest in some tie-rod sleeves to beef up the front end, and you may want to do the ice-pick mod to the injector harness, im not sure which injector it is but just do a search for "LLY ice-pick mod" and you should get all the info you need, oh and I would seriously look at doing the turbo mouthpiece upgrade, the LBZ piece works pretty good

its been proven that unless your pushing any kind of bigger power your stock air cleaner works just fine. a lot of people just gut the bottom of it so it gets more cold air flow easier and be very careful with a smoke switch its a good way to wash out cylinder walls on a duramax. on another note depending on what year the truck is the lly came with the 5 speed trans or the 6 speed in later years. i would recommend doing a trans go junior **** kit in the trans. i believe there only about $65 and greatly help the life of your trans. 6 speeds can be done with the transmission in the truck but i believe 5 speeds have to be dropped. (ive only done it on a 6 speed)

What are the dangers or a smoke switch? Just wanted one to have some fun till i can afford efi live. Does the shift kit hold more power? Improve shifts? Or make truck faster?

Also I thought there were turbo controllers that let you control the turbo vane position by turning a ****. Cant seem to find them anymore. Do these exist or am i thinking of something else. Would be a good way to change from jet engine sound at idle to lb7 idle with out efi live tuning. Is there something like this or am I getting confused with something cummins or powerjoke related?
