Someone refresh my memory...does the Kennedy pump by-pass on failure? I remember that his complete kit did but does the single pump?

if you get that one it is just a 6.5L fuel pump i had it on my VO conversion they will work for some time if you get the little blue ones then they are a flow thru so if they do fail you won't even notice unless you have a pressure gauge or start to get codes

Has anyone had cold weather issues with their DIY filter? Even though there is additional filter media available, the DIY filter is located outside the engine bay (much cooler location than stock location right above the manifold) and I would guess it might be affected more by paraffin (gelling) or thicker fuel in the winter. I have the 2 micron filter setup and no issues thus far...however I'm already planning on adding a lift pump to try to prevent issues. Of course I plan on using properly winterized fuel and adding additional anti-gel additives....

There is a possibility of that. You can go to an RV supply store and heat heat tape/pads that they use on RV plumbing. It runs on a 12v source that I'm sure doesn't draw much. I was thinking of doing that myself if I was going to do the twin filter heads I have.

I honestly don't think you will need it, it isn't any colder in the filter than it is in the line. After it has been running the engine returns fuel to the tank anyway that is warm.
