Default Intermittently Dies

Started out with the truck being kind of hard to start, hiccuping a little at highway speeds and sometimes dying when coming to a stop or starting from a stop. It idled just fine tho. Replaced the cam sensor and it started better but still had driveability issues. Had a leaking head gasket so I thought maybe there was some coolant in the cylinders making the fuel hard to combust and making it run rough at higher speeds. Pulled the head off to do the gasket and found two pistons with two tiny hairline cracks on top so I decided to overhaul the engine.
Just got it all put back together last night and it started up and ran fine. Ran strong on the test drive this morning but still had the same exact issues with it dyin.
Anyone else think this is a vp issue? I got a bad pump from Airdog a while back that lost prime while I was driving and I've had issues since then but it hasn't started dyin on me since just recently.
I absolutely have to be on the road in 36 hours. Any thoughts on it bein a vp or apps?
