killer dowel pin issues? i pulled all the intaernals out tonight and 5 piston holy hell. anywhay im going to completly eliminate the dowel pin issue by of course removing the dowel pin completely after timing case is bolted on. good idear?... JOIN NOW TO REMOVE TRACER

Bad idea! It's there to position the case. Removing it will allow the case to move around and it will start leaking.
Heres a very simple fix, you can make the tab yourself. Ram Diesel KDP retainer

Racer9's Sig:'96 Ram, CTD, 4X4, flatbed, ThurenFab trackbar, Lock-rite, 1 ton wheel cylinders.
Motor; #100 plate, governor springs shimmed, loose starwheel. 306hp/743tq.
Exhaust; Schwitzer S300G, 4" downpipe into 5" turnout stacks.
Trans; Intelligent Engineering billet input shaft, Dunrite VB and single disc TC, Burt Brown rebuild/upgrade.

They put it in for a reason. Ive also heard taking it out can jack with your timing.

Leaving it out can cause the case to walk. Tab it and its done.

ok ill build my own tab then. im surprised that damn thing hasnt fallen out yet with the horses im pushing, i could pull that thing out with my two fingers when i poped the timing cover off

The power your making has nothing to do with it. It happens to stock engines too. However my Dad's 97 had 250k and the KDP was still snugly in its hole when we pulled it apart. But your playing russian roulette with it unfixed. It is more labor than anything.
