just bought a 2000 dodge 2500 with a 6 speed. after about a month i couldnt shift into 3rd or fifth. turns out i had the early style transmission i cant even get parts for. I have been looking for about a week for a used one in good working condition but havent seen one. its my daily driver and i need it up and running ASAP. hoping maybe on of you guys would have one laying around. let me now what you got.

 

sounds like the syncros are bad, and i have a number for ya he can get you parts for it.

also do a search on carparts.com for used ones in your area, thats where i found mine for 1200.00 said it had bad shift rail, turned out to only be a bad(broke in half) 5-6 syncro assembly.

3rd and 5th gears are bad too. me and my dad tore it apart and its pretty hammered. i'm looking for the updated version anyways. thanks for the info though

 

you can update that trans, he has the parts, it will be cheaper than trying to find a good used one, they are not cheap!!!! I lucked out on mine, the same place had a core that was out of an 04 that was all tore apart for 800.00, they could not guarantee all the parts were ther so i bought the current one i have.

 

i am really not good enough with transmissions to update it. and the price of the parts with labor comes out to be quite a bit more pricy then trying to find a used one.
