On a '99 there sure is. It's located in the front right corner fender well. On an '89, now that's different.

The '99 body changed from TD to TDI motors as well as body styles.

Considering the size of the block it cools all it needs to. The trouble with the location is that it can get plugged very easily with road crap.

The most economical bolt on (direct fit) are from the Ford Mustang and the Volvo V70. Drop in, bolt on and use PVC piping to make it happen - very cool.

The trouble is still the block itself.

i found the intercooler. it is small i may relocate it or get a better one. also when you say one from a ford mustang. what years had one? or do you mean aftermarket?

As far as the FMIC - the ford one is something I have to look up as I can't remember. The one from the Volvo is any one off the V70 T5
