Default First pull.

At the end of the month I'll be entering in my first pull, ever. What are the best methods for it? The mods on my pickup are in my sig for the 99. Is 4 hi or 4 low better? On my chip, the highest setting is 100 HP street tune. SHould I use it or a lower tune just to keep heat down? I was thinking do 4hi in 1st gear? My tires are Cooper A/T 3 at about 70% tread. They are more of a all season tread type. let me know guys!
Thanks,
Geoff Pelletier

I would suggest against 1st gear. I would suggest 3rd gear 4high, or 4th gear 4 low. You can run the chip, a pull is upwards of 15 seconds so it's not bad for your engine. And remember, if your afraid to break something, dont hook up!

3rd gear in 4 high? so should i slip the clutch out that for that long? i know with in town driving ait doesn't always like starting off in 2nd. i'm not sure i could get the wheel spin the keep the RPMs up in 3rd. for 4th and4 low, i have no idea what that would be. i'll try that and get a feel for it tomorrow.

Well let me know how that works. I was out on the chalk roads after work trying out 2nd and 3rd in just 2 hi and i think 3rd in hi is just to much. i'd have to slip the clutch the whole way down the track. but then 2nd wasn't enough. i'll try 4th and 4 low and see how that goes.

yeah. i know with the big time pullers in the modified class, they're drive train is meant to handle it. i'm not sure if a T case in a DD rig is meant to handle it.
