Default Sled Pulling NOOB.

Please help me understand all the classes in sled pulling. 2.6, 2.8, 3.0, Open etc... I am lost here. I thought they were basically referring to turbo size but I am not sure how they come up with the #'s. Thanks for the help.

its the inlet (inducer) of the turbo......the smallest point of the inlet of the turbo near the wheel........2.6=66mm......which is a common aftermarket turbo size.......the 3.0 is usually a "big truck" turbo, like a HT60, K31, turbos off semi truck engines......now hey started with the 2.5 and the 2.8 class........well the problem with them is that there isnt any off the shelf 2.5 inlet turbo's really, most of them were 2.4 or 2.6.......now in the 2.8 the ATS Aurora 5000 ruled the roost because that was pretty much the only "bolt on" turbo that was 2.8......now there is usally 2 different "open" classes..........open driveline which usually means the guys are running a reverser, dropbox and rockwell rear axles with a factory style front axle and unaltered DOT tires with a stock frame and pretty close to stock body......then there is Super Stock or Modified....which is pretty much run what you brung without propane or nitrous and a "stock style" block....cut tires, HUGE turbo's, sigma injection pumps, tube steel frames, rockwells axles front and rear, lift bodies....

hope that helped some........
