I agree with tiremann, I have only seen 22.5 super singles. I like running them personally. (on a big rig)
Pros:
* weight savings: (if I remember right) either 250 or 500 pounds per axle.
* Faster Chainup: Chains just like a steer tire.
* I never wore a set out, so I don't know...but I was told they were comperable to superior on tire life, especially if siped.
* Superior traction in sandy soils. Better flotation.
Cons:
* If you blow a tire, there you sit. No limping in on the other dual.
* If you are on a road that has bad ruts in it from heavy truck traffic, they can handle a little squirelly...since your contact patch is down to the rise between the duals ruts. It is handleable, just something you will notice.
* They absolutely suck *** in heavy clay or calichi mud.
On the tire life, if they didn't last at least nearly close to the same # of miles, trucking companies would have dumped them...except for a few that need the extra capacity they get from dropping weight.
Please, if you have seen 16, or even 17 inch super singles, post a link. I would likely pick up a set for my Ford!
Cheers!
