Question Receiver hitches

Do you guys with receiver hitches leave them in or take them out between tows? Personally, I take mine out as soon as I'm done towing, in case somebody rearends me, I don’t have to worry about a drop hitch getting jammed in there and killing my departure angle. Plus I don’t want the wrong hitch rusted in if I have to pull a different height trailer. Anybody agree or disagree?

Depends on where I am, I do know for a fact that getting rear ended with it in will destroy the front of a small car. But I also hook to the same trailers multiple times a week during the summer, just make sure to remove and clean once in a while.

You are talking about the drawbar. The "hitch" is the frame that bolts to the truck frame.

In some places you can get a fine for leaving the drawbar in. I think its $150 here.

Yeah, the drawbar. With the price of quality parts these days, I don’t want to leave them at the mercy of the deadhead behind me. Lawyers today probably claim it's my fault, twist it up so that I gotta pay to fix their car. Plus I usually smack my shin when I do leave it in. Probably wouldn't be a problem if I left it in all the time.

Drawbar I thought we were talkin about a truck not a farm tractor. It's called a ball mount

I always leave mine in, you can't twist around how some dumbass rearend me because they were following to close or not paying attention. If your rearend it's the person who rearends you fault not yours. I've been hit by a minivan with one in and it didn't matter my bumper was in the front window throaty hit me so hard, there wasn't a front end left on that car, she was on the phone not paying attention.

Yeah, lawyers can't twist around the obvious. That's why O.J.'s in prison for murder. Oh, wait, no he isn't. He's in for trying to steal some collector cards or something. Dumb*ss.

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

Calling O.J. a dumb*ss there, not anybody else. Just wanted to clarify.
