Yeah I'm not sure if it's true but that's what I've heard. I know I see plenty of single wheels with 24 or longer trailers so it may not be true.

But on a personal note I would go with a dually no matter what. Actually if I was doing it for a living I would use a ton and a half or larger truck.

I pull a 32 all day with single rear wheel. Never been pulled over for it. I do know that by law some of my friends should have a cdl to pull their ropeing rigs.

If your non commercial in Texas but over 26k then you need a class a not a class a cdl. Or just run farm plates like I don't and dps won't mess with you.

Also PSD I second getting hooked up with acme I see alot of trucks running around with their decals. It's hard to get started on your own.

well thats one reason on the neck of my trailer it say personal use only not for hire but i have never been messed with yet by the law but i do know that there are alot of different rules and restrictions put in place when you get to doing it for work so thats all i am trying to figure out but you guys are saying find a company get on with them and go from there sounds simple enough now to wait on this contract to end and get a cdl

I just stopped working for a hotshot hauler, we had a 3/4 ton gas powered truck (yuk!) and a 1 ton diesel dually. I pulled a 36 foot goose neck 2 car hauler, 23,000 lbs combined weight. (which you do not need a CDL for) The owner had 1 million/ 100,000 insurance, DOT numbers, MC numbers (motor carrier). The company name has to be on the vehicle along with the DOT and MC numbers. Vehicle has to be inspected and have several mandatory safety items, not sure what all they are because the guy I worked for was rather shady and I'm sure he didn't have all of them.
You can count on at least a year before you start making any good money, if you make it that long you should do fine. I would recommend at least a 3 car wedge, anything less and it is hard to make any profit.
Good luck!

You would be better served to ask that ? to your local DMV where you plan on taking the test, some places may be different than others. I have been told (by my last employer..shady guy!) that you can do that in Alabama and Florida, but I would ask the DMV before you waste your time taking the truck and trailer up there.
