Half-Ton Pulling Gooseneck
Ive got an '87 Chevrolet Silverado K-10 4x4 and i was wondering what could be the biggest trailer i could pull with it with out pushing the limits of the drivtrain.
I have a 84 K10 that i have hauled many many many cars and trucks.
I do have the Sm465 tranny which helps BUt you wont hurt the drivetrain, you need to worry about how much load you have.
I have a bumper pull flatbed and the most i have ever put was 6300 and i did it but would not do it any more than i have to

Yes it would. Instead of having the stress at the back of the truck it would be over the axle. Just remember that most goosenecks are heaver than their tongue pull counter parts. Also IMO goosenecks are easier to pull because you can do more with them such as back under them. Good luck.
Should be able to pull a 10,000lb load. Keep your transmission in lockup and watch the temp gauge for possible overheat. K10 weaknesses would be a semi floating rear axle and a small but easily upgradeable radiator. The lack of power would be frustrating......but it just depends on how far you are going and what you are doing.
