So just to clarify, I could run something like this: Hopkins Trailer Break-Away Kit with Charger Hopkins Trailer Breakaway Kit HM20001 but with (possibly) a bigger battery to hook my winch to as well. The only thing I would have to do is unplug my 7-pin when I winch, correct?

yes. its isolated through the charger i believe (regulated) so you dont have to disconnect. you would buy that kit and just use the charger.... save a few bux and just get the charger and a marine battery box to fit the bigger battery.....

Gotcha. The only reason I was thinking about the kit was to do the breakaway as well.

You can buy just the breakaway switch, and get the charger and big battery box like Bud Green said.

You've obviously not tried it. a 1,200 lb winch works fine for pulling a truck onto a trailer.
