redneckroper, all trailers if they are wired to industry standards, with 12 volt accessories i.e. interior lights, load lites etc. have a hot line in the trailer plug.

not all of them. I have a alum trailer that has interior lights and such that came from the factory with a 6 way that does not have a hot line.

Plus my experience with trailers that have a hot line is when the battery terminals corrode they have a tendency to blow fuses and burn wiring.

The only trailer we have that has a hot line is a travel trailer and that hot line is worthless

Sorry to hear about your TT. I like the convienence of using the 12v with out running the genset.

I guess we will have to agree to disagree..........

Sounds like you problem is bad wiring and improper maintenance. the 12v constant is there to keep your battery charged up to 12v in the case that the trailer breaks away from the truck. If you just use a trickle charger you run the risk of you battery not being up to par and the brakes not activating god forbid it comes loose. 99% of trailer that have electric breaks charge the battery with the 12v hot from the truck. And it IS the industry standard.

Like motorboat said we agree to disagree but I can tell I'm guilty of riggin a lot of stuff but don't ever say I imporperly maintain equipment unless you have facts
My trailers aint the newest or best looking trailers but when I hook a trailer to my truck it is one of the safest on the road.heck we have a 73 20' gooseneck flatbed that is in better shape than most trailer that are 30 years newer.

Thank you guys for all the advice. It seems like the general consensus is to swap to the 7 pin instead of using an adapter. Im looking for safety first and reliability. RAwilliams i appreciate the wiring diagram! Im going to get into this next weekend hopefully and see what its going to take to get this thing set! I appreciate everyones advice! You guys are the best!
