Default Trailer Load Advice

I found a deal on a little gooseneck, around 20' long. I'm gonna add some 3x3 angle to either side to make it 6" wider to better fit my truck, maybe a dove tail, and beef up the fenders to make them drive over. It has 2 8-lug axles under it but I cant find a weight rating on it anywhere. I need it to hold 8000lbs... I know the axles will do it but what about the rest of the trailer? The neck just looks kinda small but I'm used to seeing 14,000lb goosenecks that are 24' and up....

Also what would be the best way to clean this thing up to paint it? I know sand blasting would be fastest but anything I can do at home? I'm thinking maybe some time with a wire wheel on teh real bad spots, quick rough sanding on the others and some of that do it yourself bed coating stuff.

Think hard about this before you part from your money.

Don't dovetail a trailer that low either.......you will regret it. Take your sheckles and invest in a trailer that suits your needs without modifications.
