My trucks got the Jacobs Brake and its awsome. I use mine all the time even when im not towing.

 

Very good information to have , I am thinking now that the Pacbrake is going to be the way to go... Without a doubt!!! Especially if I can run the bags and stuff off of the compressor...

 

I made my own from stainless, it operates from the boost pressure my turbo makes and I store that compressed air in a tank under the truck, then it uses a small Bimba air cylinder to actuate it. I made mine for about $100 in parts and did all the TIG welding and fabrication myself. It'll hold back our 40Ft triple axle enclosed drag race trailer fully loaded on a 6% grade to 40 mph without any foot brake in high gear.

I'd make one again if I ever got rid of my truck.

That sounds like an outstanding DIY article!!!

I have had some who have a hard time believing that the Allison will not do the job itself, but with the weights I haul I told them I would rather be safe than sorry and not have to depend solely on the tranny to hold it back...
