Just look up your trucks specs to see what size / weight of a trailer you can get. You should stay within the specs for your truck because they rate them using all the possibilities that you might encounter. Traveling along a smooth flat road is a lot easier than descending a very steep grade with an overloaded rig. Remember the comment above about never going back on a certain route?
If you don't have an Allison trans. that will actually slow you down, you should definitely have an exhaust brake! This is my first one and I will always have one from now on!

Oh, you would be a lot happier with a dually if you need that big / heavy of a trailer!! See about 'test' driving one loaded heavy if you don't believe me.....

I have a 32ft Weekend Warrior and I can't say I have had any issues with it..I have 3 queen beds; two with electric winch to raise and lower. Onan 5500 watt gen, 150 fresh, 50 black, 50 gray, power washer, speakers in and out, a ton of outside lights, two leather rockers, fold-down couch, water filter, a/c, screen back, triple axle, 9900lbs dry, 20 gal generator tank, 40 gal fuel station, power jack, fiberglass siding, rubber roof, inverter, charger, t.v./sat hookup, mirror tinted windows, awning, etc. I pull it loaded with water, fuel and 4 quads with my 2500 single axle dodge. I use a dual-cam sway control and 17k trunion bar setup; no issues.

I would love to have a toy hauler but my rig is 82" wide, 90" tall and 196" long... I think I'm stuck with a camper and a car hauler!

I pull an Amerlite 40' all aluminum (48' overall) gooseneck car hauler with living quarters. I love it because the heigth is only 12' with 78" of headroom inside. The divided garage has a seperate outside entrance door and is 25' long. I haul my Wrangler, golf cart and Harley with room to spare. Another feature is the low center of gravity. The rear ramp is low to the ground and with the flip down it makes loading and unloading a snap.

The initial cost is a tad more than a high end Toyhauler but I have it very well equipped
with dual ACs, in motion satillite reciever, one slideout, 7 KW generator, etc.

I weigh a tad over 20K m/t, loaded with all the toys, full of fuel, water and propane the gross weight is 25,525.

These can be picked up cheaper than a conventional toyhauler as they are primarily used by racers. They may be a little rough cosmeticly but still very serivable.

I baby mine and plan on keeping it. The length is sometimes a problem at some campgrounds and you need to watch what your doing in tight places but overall I would not trade it for a conventional toyhauler.
