Ok guys so i have this 4x8 flatbed trailer that used to be a boat trailer from the 60's
i got for free from my grandparents... My grandpa boxed it in to make it a flat bed and it also tilts has 12" tires.. I have had this for about 5 years now and just started fixing it up becuase we have 4 quads and my youngest son is starting to ride so i need a trailer. My thoughts are that i want to extend this trailer to be a 7 or 7 1/2x14 or 15 deckover so that i
can haul all of the quads and probably hauling some other of my friends too.. So is it possible too do this???? the axle on the trailer will slide back becuase it has bolt holes in the sides for this to happen.. would i need another axle under it???? so what are your guys thoughts and opinions, just dont wanna buy a trailer figured i could make this what i want it

It's possible to do it. But with the time and cost of materials. you could probably find a used car hauler for cheap. Took me a year but finally found a car hauler for $1250 No rust matching tires all new. with a full metal deck 18'x82''

 

I think you are better off buying one and keeping grandpas trailer for when you go by yourself. I found this little goody on craigslist in your state for 250 bucks that should hold atleast 2-4 atv's depending on size of them. Take a look:Homemade Trailer If you do buy this and it only holds 3, you can probably haul the other in the truck bed. just my 02 cents though

 

thanks for the info guys!!!!! checked out the craigslist find he only lives 1 hour away so i may go look at it this weekend!!!! the only reason i was thinking about extending this trailer is becuase my uncle owns his own welding shop so i figured i could do it cheap...
