How Do You Know If It Was A Dually?
#21
I read your post. I must admit I'm have a gas engine background (what I do have anyways and your post goes over one mod to a 6.9 diesel engine (which is more than I feel comfortable with), are their any BASIC upgrades/mods that can be done to improve fuel economy, HP, and the like?
Thanks, DannZegos

Ford Pickup Bronco 1987-1991
there aint much you can do to a 6.9, you can swap a 7.3 turbo onto it or get a Banks/ATS(same as factory ford 7.3 kit unless you get the Aurora 2K)/Hypermax kit.........

Well, I have an '85 F250, and it has studs about 3-4 inches long, I mean these things could be sharpened down and used as tire shredders for NASCAR they stick out so far, but we bought it new, and it was a single wheel. I never could understand why they needed to be so long, especially when I had a flat and it was 10 below out. Don't know why, just know they are.

SOME PEOPLE MIGHT CALL THE 2500 SINGLE REAR WHEEL D80"S HYBRIDS DUE TO THE FACT THAT THEY COULD USE THE SAME AXLE SHAFTS, BREAK DRUMS, AND SHOES AS THE D70'S THAT CAME IN THE TRUCKS W/ SLIP-O-MATICS. BUT THE R&P, CARRIERS, HOUSINGS, AND ETC. WERE MUCH LARGER ON THE D80'S.

this may be off subject but i have a 87 f250 hd with the same extra long studs for the wheels i took a set of dually rims off of the rear of a dually f350 and put them on and they worked fine no spaceres or anything, as far as fenders went i just used some backwoods enginuity with a piece of metal covert for fenders its not pretty but it works. also the f350 dually had a helper spring set up on it keep in mind converting to dual wheels dosent increase the load capacity of your axle just gives you a piece of mind for blow outs. as far as the 6.9l diesel goes i converted mine to one from a 5.8 and i love the diesel it pulls great up hill at about 60 mph and youll get better mileage with a t 19 then a c6. just my 2 cents

ok i have a factory f250 dually. didnt believe that it was factory until i saw the option marked for dual rear wheels and know that it has the same gcvw as a srw f250 which is less than the f350 my brother in law has. i will try to find the option number again tmw when i go to work where the truck is parked.
