Default Tires For 06 CTD

It's time for new tires. What do you guy's think is the best tire size for a stock 06 mega cab 4wd.?I would like a bigger tire, but no rubbing.I think the 35s look great with the leveling kits, but i think it would look like the rear is sagging when i'm towing the camper.I'm thinking 285/70 295/70 or 33 12.50. What do you guys think?

I have been looking at the Toyo MT in the 295/70/17 and the Kumho ML71 in the 285/70/17. Both are E rated around 3700 LBS/Tire. If I didn't already have rims I like, for what the Toyos cost, I would probably go with a 19.5 and wheels from rickson.

You could aways do an add-a-leaf or 2" block to complement the leveling kit.

I have an 06 Mega, and had this same predicament....I added the KORE hd levelling kit and LOVED the look. Went to 285/70/17's and thought they were too small for the size of the truck...But they drove perfect, loved the handling and ride of the tire size. Your dealer can also program your ECM to 285's so your speedo will be correct and it also optimizes your shift points for the new tires...

I loved the look until I pulled a trailer, then it looked like it was draggin the rear bumper. Since I have added a 2" block to the rear, and all is well, but I still wasnt happy with the tire size...

I have now added new tires in a 35x12.5x17 Toyo M/T and love them...great on the gravel, sand, mud and more than acceptable on the ice and snow (which I have a lot of)...

Speedo is out about 5km/hr but not a big deal. They are a bit loud, but no big deal...

I think I have pics of both setups..I will see if I can find both for ya...

And this is how bad it looked pulling a trailer, less than 6000# on the trailer...

And now with 2" block in rear and 35" Toyos....

This is mine with Pro Comp X/AT 33/12.5/17 (305/65/17) no leveling kit and no rubbing at all. I know that it is not a mega cab but they are on the same frame.

Great looking trucks guys. 06 diesel those tires look about perfect on the stock suspension. How much taller are they? Longhorn , thats how i pictured my truck looking too with the leveling kit and trailer. Your truck looks awesome like that.In the rear you just put on 2in blocks.Did you do anything with shocks? Were the blocks hard to install and were they expensive? Thanks guys

Yes 2" aluminum blocks, had a shop here in town make them for me, and had the tire shop install them when they were rotating my tires...$180 installed..Shocks are stock but next time I would put better shocks on the rear. New U-bolts were required and were included in the price. I still like the look of a levelled truck better, but because I pull a trailer a fair bit, it just didnt work for me...
