Ok so I'm trying to sell off my 37 inch Toyos w/ 22inch rims and go with a 35 inch tire and either 17's or 18's for the rim. I was wondering what you guys suggest for tires that are good but not super spendy. I like the toyo open country's but they are spendy. Does anyone know anything bout Dick Cepek tires? I'm really interested in getting possibly the Mud Country ones. Also any input on a good looking rim for a decent price would be greatly appreciated.
Oh and I'd like to offset my tires a little wider so rims that will set them wider would be great.

I just recently put the Hankook AT/M All Terrains on my truck in a 285. They have some of the best consumer reports out right now. I've tested them in snow, sand & mud and they are a very well-rounded tire. I got mine in a E Range so they were a little more expensive. You can see them in my pic in the snow.

 

I owned a pair of the Cepek Mountains, I cannot recommend them for towing. They eat away very fast under load. Anything else they are fine. They are however a big slicker than other tires I have tried in the rain, especially in an empty pickup. They are also noisy. I have a neighbor that tried the Hankooks and we went "test riding" the other day, again, a bit noisy but all around a nice tire, he has a 3/4 so towing isn't his goal. I have a relative with the Toyo M/T's, they have a rib down in the bottom of the lugs of tread that is supposed to be the answer to road noise. It seems to work noticeably quieter than either the Hankook or the Cepek tires. I like the Toyo rubber, grips well, and if you sipe them they are second to none in wet or snowy conditions. Seems all tires are spendy in and E rated tire and if you go to 18 inch you need lots of overtime to pay for them and the wheel step up. Toyo's are available in 8 or 11.5 inch wide and 32 to 34 tall.

 

i am a big fan of the nitto trail grapplers,,they are pretty good in the snow mud and road surfaces ,,its all on how you push the skinny pedal..

i tryed the terra's there good for ashphault only and the mud grapps are way to loud ..jmo

 

Dick Cepeck the radial a/t are awesome tires, my friend had a set on his rig and squezzed 60K out of them and could have gotten more if he rotated his tires. They do good in snow and mud. I would have a set if I could have found any where I live. I have Kelly Safri TSR E rated and they are sweet they ride good, not to noisy, and do fenaminal in the snow and mud. Also another friend who has the same truck as me has 50K on them and they have a little more to go. Dicks, Kelly and Cooper and the M/T BF Goodrich are good tires.

 

cooper stt's are a great tire. quiet and they look and wear good. i had 37 inch mud grapplers on my old truck and they were loud as can be. the stt's do pretty good in the mud and snow too. i'd consider looking into them.
