Hmmm its been a while since I have looked under one of these things, and to be honest im not 100% familiar with a 2wds suspension... The frame mounts for the control arms would be important as well as the trac bar mount on the frame. My old man used to have a 79 4wd F150, great truck!! Any updates on your project??

I helped a friend do that years ago when it was a late model truck. I think we had to use almost all the frame brackets off the 4x4 doner because thay were different from the twin I beam 2 wheeler brackets. It can be done but I remember it being harder than we anticipated. Good luck, Rocky

There will be some fabrication involved since the frames are quite different between the two. Plus the '78 4wd models were SA not TTB, so the crossmember mount will need to be fabbed or cut/welded in. Not saying it cant be done, but its definitely not just plug and play. Id cut out the TTB at the frame keeping it intact, mock it up, and start fabbing mounts to link it to the frame.
A far easier swap would be a 78-79 D44. You could probably sell the TTB and make up for most of the difference, or use the parts off your TTB to rebuild it.
Either way, good luck!!
