Does anyone know about wear and rainy weather behaviour of the Duratracs?

BFG's are awful and dangerous on rain when they get older and the rubber hardens out. But they last a very long time... The BFG's are relative quiet when the rubber is new and soft, they get louder with age.

 

they wear good, and in rain and on slippery roads they will way out perform the BFG. True mud tires are crap on slippery pavement. they usually have no sipes on the tread blocks. the duratracs also have the snow flake symbol on the sidewall to reflect severe winter duty rated.

 

ive heard the duratracs have a soft sidewall and it feels like your driving on balloons when you have them on a heavy diesel truck. Anyone have that problem?

 

Sorry guys I know this is a very old thread but I would rather add than make a duplicate.. I just put the duratrac on my 99 7.3 dually.. they are 265 75 16's.. they have only been on for a day but they hold up better in the front to the weight than I thought they would. At 55 psi they almost have no "bubble" at the bottom.. yes there is a little sway in them but no more than I have noticed in all terrain/ mud tires in the past .. if I were to tow any weight I would get a spacer.. without there is about 1/8 th of a gap

 

The tread design looks like it should be capable for most terrains

 

Hot duramax, I have tested them plenty of times in our muddy oat patches and the traction is amazing.. they pull like any Mickey thompson, bfg or nitto I have ever run.. they are classified as an all terrain but they are definitely as meaty as any mud tire.. I have tacked 2500 miles on them with no signs of wear.. also another thing is they are completely quiet on the highway!

 

i had mine for bout 3k miles before my pickup burnt up and i loved mine!!

 

I love mine, wouldn't run a different tire for what I do. The miserable snowy, icy winters, and pulling a trailer into remote areas, these tires perform very well. They have given me no reason to even try something else.

Raw, I saw lots of great reviews about them in the snow and slush but being from Alabama I can tell you that they are damn good in the mud.. something about the grouping of the center tread makes them grab a hold of anything you can put em on.. especially the wet grass I used to be so scared of..

 

I completely agree with you. I have pulled my trailer though some ugly stuff, resulting in many hour of pressure washing when I get home! Gravel roads, wet grass, mud, rocks dirt, whatever the foothills of the Rocky Mountains have to offer.
