He's actually pretty lucky the whole cap didn't come off, could have been much worse. Just like everything else when it comes to tires you get what you pay for.

Agreed, could have been real bad. He said that chunk came off @ 70mph. Heard a thump, got out to inspect, didn't see anything, kept driving to their destination and his wife happened to notice it in the morning, luckily the tire was rolled to a spot she could see it.
