Whats a good mud tire?
the Definity Dakotas from pep boys aint bad, i got them installed and balanced on my truck for 644 after the rebate, Pretty Pleased with them! I got 285/75/16 on my truck. Only bad thing is i left my front end alignment go and it ended up wearing the inside of the tire out, ill never do that again!

Im runnin the kumhos on my SD and love them. Price is right and perform great on the street and better in the mud. I cant even hear them over the motor and stereo runnin down the higway. Have 15-20k on them now and I'm very impressed with how well they are wearing.

i had then on my truck. they were gone in a year if i remember i will have to look back in older posts i think i got 12K out of em and i rotated em every 5k. they rode great , wore perfect and had great traction in everything but like i said they wore out to quick for me....and they clame to be E rated so i was expecting alot more out of em..

I have Mickey Thompson Mtz's and love them they are a good mud tire adn clean out awsome! No road noise from them either. From what I've seen with all my friends that have diesels the procomp and toyos dont last on the highway

How are these lasting? I'll be doing lift/tires by fall. So far, toss up between these and Toyos.

I know I'll get another argument goin here but I'll say it anyway. Just be sure that whatever tire you get is a load range "E" tire. Don't pay any attention to the pounds it's rated for. The poundage is a static figure, how much the tire will support while the truck is standing still. The alphabetic rating is for sidewall strength and that's what counts when your cruisin down the road. If you never put a load in your truck the D's are right on the top limit in our trucks while empty so they may work but your takin your chances and if they go, they blow fast. No warnings, they're just gone.
our 6.9's arent as heavy as the newer trucks. i am running goodyear military tires on mine(the 36x12.5 ones) and they are only c rated and max psi is 35. havent had a problem yet.
also something to remember for you, all these guys here have trucks that have good power. our 6.9's dont have the best power rating. the biggest problem i have noticed is not having the power to get the tires to clean out. you need a tire that cleaned out well at low rpms. i have tried Dick cepek mud countrys. i couldnt get them to clean out that well. these hummer tires do clear out well, which makes sence since hummers aint got much power either.
just keep that in mind. in the mud, highest gear i can grap in 4x4 high range is second. so 20 mph or so is all the tires can spin.

I haven't been in any real deep stuff yet but we went up in the canyon again this weekend and it was really slick stuff up there and the best I could do was 2nd high range, but that was also going up hill. Don't think I'll do much better in deeper stuff though. I'd run the 36" mil tires but I do too much highway driving to do them and don't have the money right now to lift the truck to run the 37s.
