Default Firestone Destination AT's?

Ok, so I have been doing research. I have a buddy who manages a Firestone auto care store, and can get a decent deal on a set of 285/70/17's for the Dodge. I am stepping down a size from the 35" Procomp XAT's. Has anyone used the Destination AT's? Everything I am seeing is that they are a good all terrain tire, and they do look nice. I am not impressed with procomp tires, and after I was told they would not warranty them because I drive winding mountain roads, I will never buy procomps again, nor will I buy from 4 wheel parts again. The Destinations now come in a load range E which is what I want to go back to. Just looking for any input on these tires.
Thanks!
Scott

My brother ran a set of 265-75R16's on his 99 2500 Dodge gasser for a couple of years. Seemed to do pretty good. Plowed snow with them and everything, though they definitely ain't a mudder! Can't report on mileage as they went with the truck when he traded it for is diesel, though they seemed to be wearing fairly quick.

I'm on my second set of Pro-Comps. First was a set of 33x12.50x17 M/T's. Got 40,000 miles out of them, rotating every 3,000 miles. Coulda got another couple thousand miles out of them, but they were getting a bit thin for the upcoming winter. Just turned 28,000 miles on my present set of X-AT's Still better than 50% tread left, rotating every 4,000.

I've heard too many horror stories about 4-Wheel Parts and their B.S. customer assistance...ESPECIALLY their tire warranties! Just ask the guys on all the 4X4 forums. Best advice I can give anyone is to tell 4WP to go pound sand and give your hard earned money to someone who actually takes care of their customers instead of just bending them over a barrel and stuffing their head in a bucket.

Well, I didn't buy my Procomps from 4wp, but they are the only place around that carries them and will supposedly warranty them. The main reasons I am looking at the Destination AT's is because I can get a decent deal on them, and they come in load range E 10 ply, and they have a 50k mile treadlife warranty.

I'm with you bro! I have had all my maintenance done at this Firestone, so I am thinking I will go there for new tires too. My buddy who runs the place said he can get me whatever tires I want, but speaks highly of the Destination AT's. He runs them on two of his own vehicles, and loves them. I am thinking I might give them a shot, was just wanting to see if anyone else had run them. To me, customer service is the most important thing in having a business. If you can't do well in customer service, then maybe you ought to rethink your plans.

my brother-n-law has been running the firestone destinations a/t's for years. over all performance has been good and tire wear is good. think he said he got just under 50,000 out of the last set. i'm considering going that route when i need a set.

Chad,
They cleared fine, with a little bit of rubbing at full lock on the lower control arms. I just wasn't happy with how the wider tire performed in the snow/ice here, and I want a load range E tire, since I will be carrying a slide in camper on occasion. Mostly personal preference for a load range E tire that doesn't cost 2 arms and 2 legs.

Sounds good! I think I might be going that way then.. I will have to keep doing research of course!

Used them for years on many company trucks. Nothing bad to say about them except from the above statement. MUDDIN tires they are NOT! But for overall use. Good tire. IMHO

I am not at all worried about mudding. This truck has never seen mud, and never will. I am looking for an all around good tire for pavement, snow, and occasional dirt roads. Nothing major as far as offroading is concerned.
