Default wheel help

I want to get some 16x10 wheels buti have no idea what all the backspacing and offset numbers mean. i have a 97 dodge. i like the way the american racing wheels look. i am eventually going to run 315/75-16s or 33x12.50 tires but will my 285 fit on a ten inch wheel?

Backspacing is whether or not the rims will hang up on the calipers or go past and cast the front end when turning (ouch). One way, is to measure your stock rims, and you can get an idea of where you need to be. Hope this helps.
