it is a piece of metal that acts as an anti squeek device. it's the same material that is on the back of brake pads (you know that thin metal that is rivited to them) i'm not sure of what it's made of though

yup... what he said...

either you tighten the **** out of the ubolts smashing the mat so flat that it was pointless to put in there or the mat deteriorates and then your packs are loose.

The teflon helps for smoother movement of the springs in the pack allows for better ride. I think rubber could effect the way the springs operate.

You have to go to a spring shop or a heavy truck repair place...both will have them. I have a great place up here but that wont help you, sorry. And yes the leaves do slide on each other as they compress. I am switching my leaves out for a KORE mini-pac and there will be a slider in-between...

Thanks for nothin you bunch spuds. Now I gotta pull the first side back apart again and start over, not to mention witin for more parts now.

I got the teflon spring pads ordered today. No spring shops, heavy duty or otherwise had these pads locally. Most places just told me they pull em out and throw em away and one place even recommended not using them because they trap moisture. I don't know, the factory put em there so I'm gonna keep em. but they won't be in till monday now. I did get me some new spacers cut today though. Just used a piece of 1/2 inch steel plate.
