duramax vs 8.1L Big block
LOL....wow! I wish I could see that.
Funny now it's got me thinking of how cheap those 8100's are going for...$9000-$11,000 with low miles just because no one wants a 7-9mpg gas sucking beast.
Would be a fun truck for sure.

His was a 2001 Reg cab 4x4 with 79,000 miles on it. Said it got 8mpg loaded or not. Sold 'er for $9500.00 and bought a 04 PSD that coughed-up it's HPOP the 2nd day he owned it.
Figure all the 8.1L is, is a stroker 454 big-block. Drag racers have spent a lot of money for a lot of years to get that kind of displacement from their BBC's.

Man, my friend had one of those 8.1s. His was prob a 2002? He installed exhaust, CAI and a Hypertech. It was a reg cab 4x4 with an auto. Even after all that work it was a major pig. Id have to see another one that ran good to change my opinion. I bet the D-Max would whoop it pretty bad.
I dont know.... it would be close... Mine was a 02 ext cab long bed with an automatic (Which happens to be the allison) I got it at a chevy dealership that was selling there repos they got back. Only paid 5,900 for it.... should have kept it
maybe he's just flabergasting... since the "pink slip" isnt actually pink, so ok and get a pink slip of paper. wire doen "
you" on it, and win.. see what happens... either way, he didnt specify

we got a bunch of them 8.1 at work and they haul man, i wouldn't toy with one of them. they pull awsome too. we have them in 2500,3500 singles and two 4500 box vans, and they ride like a dream. and also i got a new chevy gasser 6.0 and don't seem to have a problem gettin over 98 with it.
only done it a couple of times gets kinda scary with the utility box i got on it.

I have a hard time believing a stock duramax couldn't take it.
