Well thats funny!! I had a 8.1 for about a month after my powerstroke was stolen and it hauled ***. It would burn the tires at a light and it was stock. I raced my buddies 6.0 with a edge in it and i beat him with my stock 8.1.....

holy shi--.....They're honestly that fast? They're at 340hp 450ft-lbs of torque IIRC...I thought the duramax or a powerstroke would be able to trump that. Similar horsepower but way more torque.

The 8100 (thats 496ci!) gasser can be absolutely brutal with some tweaking. Keep in mind the marine versions of it are rated as high as 500hp! That's in a factory engine with a warranty! The power is there. It's all in the ECM tuning. Buddy had one in a 2500HD with the 5-spd manual trans and 4.10 gearing. Everything stock except a straight-piped exhaust and he could get rubber through 4th gear.
