What Diesel should I buy?

You buy a cummins engine and a trans and i gotta truck down here in college station, tx and its a pos but its a good project truck. Old Chevy single cab, step side short bed, i think its from the 80's but it use to be a drag truck. he is sellin it for $1500 or trade for dependable car. he might go lower than that with it idk though
