Does it have a scope-mount rail on the side of the receiver? If so, get a quick-detach scope mount from AIMS Surplus or your favorite "surplus" catalog and mount an inexpensive red-dot to it. Leaps and bounds over the iron sights. Stay away from the cheap "rails" that come in the form of a replacement receiver dust cover. They move around with every shot and even fall off on occasion! Here's the K-Var brand that's been on a certain Romanian SAR-1 for the last near-decade. Been a $25 dollar BSA red dot perched there the whole time. Will print 4" groups at 100 yards with set-up using Wolf 123gr hollow-points.

Also, try to find some of the steel East German mags. They work great and cost around 12 bucks a piece!

I'm not putting no cheap *** red dot on my ak. If it was a wasr then maybe. I'm actually goin with a us palm hand guard set that has a rail on it. Goin to put a aim point micro red dot on it. Also gonna put a ace folding stock on it.
Here it is as it sits with red jacket flash hider, ares armor sling, euro surplus mag.
