I have a friend that just got a SR40. I like the SR's I think they feel good in the hand and are smaller in size the the P series Rugers I have.

well..... Choose your flavor...

Rock Island 1911 FS - $425

Glock Of Your Choice - Around $550

Springfield XD - Around $550

Smith & wesson M&P - Around $550

Plenty More but any of those above should give you a long life of service. I suggest finding a range that rents guns and try them out. Find what you like. For me personaly I like the feel and grip angle of the glock. I've shot teh rest and the M&P is probably my next favorite. I own the RIA 1911 and it's a nice gun too. People will say.... "that gun is junk" or "this gun is teh only one worth anything" when in reality they all make great firearms and it comes down to what works for YOU!

Well, I made it out tonight at around 5:00. I had 2 boxes of 50 and 1 box of 100 so I shot one clip (17) of each 50 round boxes through it and two clips from the 100. I've only shot probably 400 rounds before this through a large caliber semi-auto pistol, and only 50 of those were actually at paper targets with both eyes open. Well, here is how I turned out at 12 yards. I need to tune the rear sight slightly, but didn't have the time today.

The first 3 I shot with just enough time to regain sight picture and the last I actually went for accuracy. The gun shoots pretty danged sweet for me. I actually like the feel a little better than my XD45. The Lellier & Bellot seemed to have a slight bit more recoil? I'll have to get her sighted in before I can really tell too much more on accuracy, because I think I would sometimes unconsciously compensate for the first couple that were low.

My CCW instructor had PINK hair clips for anybody who used the term "clip" when referring to the magazine of their pistol. I didn't get to wear any (calling a magazine a clip is one of my pet peeves) but one dude finished the class with 5 of em! Wifey was a good girl, she left the class clip-free!

The Ruger SR-9 is a great little gun. Please do not take offense to this but if that is a standard pistol target you should be grouping way tighter trying for accuracy. Looks as if you are anticipating the shot slightly. Where are you at in SD, lets get out and shoot sometime.
