Looking for a good AR lower
 

So for my upcoming birthday next month, I'm thinking about building myself an AR as my present. Where can I find a good quality but fairly cheap complete lower? I need to get a complete lower because you have to be 21 to buy a stripped one and a complete one is considered a long arm and can be bought at 18 like any rifle.

I think I've got the upper I want picked out. Its a piston setup by a company called Adams Arms. It seems like a better deal then the Bravo Company upper I was originally looking at.

I heard of these guys from a cop buddy of mine who used their piston kit in the gun he built for his patrol carbine. He said its ran 100% reliably so far. IIRC, I think he said his gun had a 10.5" barrel.

get a plum crazy lower they come complete ith four postion stock for around $120

do you have any experience with the plum crazy lower? I don't like the idea that half my rifle is plastic.

that upper looks like it would be a great deal but I'm set on a midlength.

i dont but my best friend has one it works great they are suposed to be stronger then the metal one

The Plum Crazy lower is fine for 223/5.56. The lower doesnt really receive the recoil, its all in the upper/buffer tube. Then again I wouldn't put it under a 50beowulf. But it would probably be fine with the 6.8 as well. Is the PC lower a combat lower...no...but it will work fine. And later on you could get a aluminum lower and a dedicated 22lr upper and put the PC on the 22lr upper for a light weight plinker.

I never even thought of doing something like that. I might have to check them out better now with that thought in mind.

I'm building the gun as a tactical carbine. For now it'll be used to kill paper zombies, but IF the stuff ever hits the fan, which I hope it NEVER does, it'll be my go-to gun for stopping real "zombies" that try to come after me and mine. Plus I'm thinking I'm gonna run mostly 62gr 5.56 rounds, but we'll see how many rounds of it I can afford to send downrange. May have to go with 55gr .223 for practice and stock a few thousand of the 62gr 5.56 for a "rainy day".

Any idea where?

The 55gr ammo has a better track record for stopping zombies than the 62gr stuff does...problem with the 62gr is that while it's not armor piercing it is designed as a penetration round and thus punched holes in humans...

I'm not a big fan of the green tipped ammo.....

Get a barrel with 1/8 or 1/9 twist and the 55gr will be fine...and most 1/7 barrels also are accurate with 55gr..


Not long ago here in town at a local gunshop I saw CMMG lowers for $100.....you just have to look around....

Most of the uppers I've looked at are 1/7. Didn't know that about the ammo either. I'd like to see first hand what the differences are(or at lest try to see). Is there anything besides ballistic gel that I could get my hands on to test these that's similar to "zombies"?
