Need suggestions on new gun
#41
I am going to get my ccw and need a new hand gun to carry. I need some suggestions on what to get. I am not a huge gun guru been around them my whole life and understand them but never got into the whole why this gun is better than that one and could use all the help I can get. Whats a good reliable gun for under $500? It can be used I would rather have a good used gun than a new piece of crap. I want it to be small but not a pocket pistol and something 9mm or bigger. My wife carries a p94 40cal Rugger. It has always been a good firing gun but seems a little big to carry every where. I hear people talking about frame mounted safeties. Is there a actual difference between frame and slide or is it just personal preference? I have never noticed the difference.
It would be a CZ75BD carried half cocked with 15rd mag.
or the CZ75 compact
Slim profile with the slide riding inside the frame, very natural grip, and will shoot +p ammo all damn day.

My brother just bought his dedicated carry piece. It's a Kahr CM9. I shot it the other day and it's really got me thinking on buying one for myself. His was accurite and 100% reliable with the loads we ran through it. Plus they've been getting VERY good reviews on just about every board I've read. It's pretty small, (yet not too small as to not be able to hold onto it when using hot loads), VERY thin (0.90" across the slide) and only weighs 14 ounces. You can get the same gun in .40 S&W but I think that round would be a bit too snappy in a pistol this size to control well. Best part is, they've been selling here for under $400.00 brand new (Cody bought his for $389.99).
Yes Martin, I know it doesn't have a frame-mounted saftey. That's why I like it!
